KDM HIRE GEAR UP FOR THE 2019 COOKSTOWN 100

With only a few weeks to go before the first race of the Irish Road Racing Season, Cookstown 100 organisers recently held their launch night at the Royal Hotel Cookstown.

Race Director Kenny Loughran spoke of the race changes for 2019 and welcomed numerous riders on the night.

A new start/finish line is one of the many improvements to the Orritor circuit this year which always attracts a quality entry to get the season kicked off.

Some of the riders spoke on the night of their plans for the 2019 season and the organisers provided details of entries for the up and coming race.

Michael ‘Micko’ Sweeney eager to get on to the top step

Man of the Meeting at the final road race of the 2018 season, Michael “Micko” Sweeney has a great finishing record at the Cookstown 100 but is eager to get on to the top step in the larger capacity classes. Sweeney will go in Supertwin, Open and Supersport 600 races on the  Martin Jones Racing /Kiely Heating bikes.

Guy Martin submits a provisional entry for the classic race

Lincolnshire rider, Guy Martin has entered for this years KDM Hire Cookstown 100. Stepping back form modern-day machinery Martin has submitted a provisional entry for the classic race on board his home built 830 BSA.

Nadieh Schoots will make her National road race debut

International Female road racer, NadiehSchoots, will make her National road race debut when she competes in this years KDM Hire Cookstown 100. Nadieh who competed in last years North West 200, will compete in both Open and Cookstown 100 races on her Rebel Racing R1 Yamaha Superbike.

McGee aims to stamp his mark

Amongst the entry list is the Mullingar Missile, Derek McGee, Triple Irish Road Race champion of 2018. Derek returns to the KDM Hire Cookstown 100 with intentions of getting back on the top step of the podium.

McGee, who last year failed to win any races at the opening road race of the season, went on to clinch three road race titles last season and amassed a total of 18 wins. McGee has entered Open, Supersport 600, Supertwin and Moto 3 races.

Adam McLean remains with Team McAdoo

Man of the Meeting in 2018, Adam McLean remains with Team McAdoo racing. With a season under his belt coupled with sterling performances at the opening ISBK Short Circuit meeting last week at Bishopscourt, Adam will be out to reclaim this title.

Derek Sheils is reunited with John Burrows

Last years Superbike race winner, Derek Sheils, is reunited with John Burrows in the new look RK Racing team. Sheils will contest both Open and Supersport 600 races (Road House Macau Racing Yamaha).
